RottenTask

RottenTask targets the well-documented "zombie task list" problem — tasks that accumulate, never get killed, and generate cognitive guilt. Live research across Motion, Morgen, SelfManager.ai, Reclaim, Trevor AI, Sunsama, and major productivity subreddits confirms: (1) only 53.5% of weekly planned tasks are completed, meaning nearly half of all to-do items are stale candidates; (2) users paying $19–$34/mo for AI schedulers still complain bitterly about unfinished task debt; (3) every incumbent handles overdue tasks by silently rescheduling — none forces a conscious kill-or-keep ritual. The "task autopsy" mechanic (Fresh / Stale / Decomposed labelling + AI-drafted kill justification) has no direct product equivalent in any source reviewed. Core loop is stateless and shippable in 2–3 days as a web MVP. Monetisation path is plausible via freemium with a weekly ritual lock-in upgrade hook. Score rises from prior 17 to 18 driven by stronger-than-expected spend signals in the weekly-review sub-niche and a clearly articulated competitive gap. Decision: STRONG — proceed to validate with a no-auth web MVP and measure Sunday ritual retention.
